Vaccine recommendations revisions by federal officials: Our response

The Hepatitis B Foundation is deeply disappointed in the decision by U.S. Department of Health & Human Services to reduce the well-established and incredibly successful U.S. childhood immunization schedule, including the removal of the universal childhood hepatitis B catch-up recommendations.

The childhood hepatitis B vaccine schedule has been instrumental in protecting generations of children from lifelong liver disease and liver cancer.

This decision will place millions of children at risk for preventable infectious diseases and will cause even further confusion among providers and parents as they attempt to navigate these new recommendations.

Our Dec. 5 statement on the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices vote is here.
