O'Liver Mascot Program

The Hepatitis B Foundation created O'Liver to
raise public awareness about hepatitis B in a more friendly
and positive
way. In June 1997, Pa. Governor Tom Ridge declared the
month "Hepatitis B Awareness Month" and during his press conference,
O'Liver made his inaugural debut on the steps of the Pennsylvania
Capitol in Harrisburg.
Since then, O'Liver has been a regular friendly presence in school
vaccination programs, community screenings and health fairs, professional
meetings, and the HBF patient conferences. He has mingled comfortably
with celebrities, politicians, and the general public across Pennsylvania
alike.
