Who Should Be Treated
EASL International Consensus Conference on
Hepatitis B
The European Association for the Study of the
Liver (EASL) convened a consensus conference
on hepatitis B in September 2002 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The goal of the conference was to define the
current state of knowledge and generate recommendations
for the management of those living with chronic
hepatitis B.
The conclusions were to be presented during
the 38th annual EASL meeting inTurkey, but due
to the war in Iraq, the conference was cancelled.
In April 2003, EASL published its official
consensus statement with recommendations addressing
who should be treated, optimal treatments, and
monitoring of untreated hepatitis B patients.
