Other Hepatitis Vaccines
The Hepatitis B Foundation maintains a regularly updated Hepatitis
Vaccine Watch for hepatitis A and B vaccines. The manufacturers
and names of hepatitis vaccines may be different in countries outside
the United States.
For children, there are several single vaccine products, as well
as combination vaccines, to help reduce the total number of vaccines
that are given to them. Pediatric hepatitis vaccines are being manufactured
without thimerosal, the mercury-based preservative that had been
previously used.
New hepatitis B vaccines are also in development for poor-responders
or non-responders to the currently approved HBV vaccines. Almost
5 - 15% of adults vaccinated against hepatitis B do not develop
protective antibodies. These new vaccines may provide the protection
they need.
