Privacy Statement
Registration
Our site's registration form requires users to give us contact information (like
their name and email address). This information is necessary so that we can
keep track of your completed course credits and identify you for CME, CNE,
or CEU purposes. Unique identifiers (such as the user's email address) are
collected to verify the user's identity and for use as a unique user name in
our record system.
Cookies
This site requires cookies to be enabled on the user's browser. A
cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing
information about the user. A cookie file can contain information
such as a user ID that the site uses to track the pages you have
visited. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally
identifiable information while on our site. The only personal information
a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie
can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created
by other sites. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the
user would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby
saving time while on our site. Cookies can also enable us to track
and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience
on our site.
Information Sharing with Sponsoring Organizations
We do not share user or aggregated information with any organizations
outside of the Hepatitis B Foundation.
Links
This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by
this website. This website contains links to other sites. Please
be aware that the Hepatitis B Foundation is not responsible for
the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users
to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements
of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable
information.
Security
This website takes every precaution to protect our users' information.
When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information
is protected both online and off-line. When our registration form
asks users to enter sensitive information, that information is encrypted.
While on a secure page, the lock icon on the bottom of web browsers
such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes
locked, as opposed to un-locked.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online,
we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line.
All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information,
is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information
to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable
information. All employees are kept up-to-date on our security and
privacy practices. When new policies are added, our employees are
notified and /or reminded about the importance we place on privacy,
and what they can do to ensure our users information is protected.
Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information
on are kept in a secure environment.
If you have any question about the security of our website, please
contact: CME Web Administrator at info@hepb.org.
Institute Presentation Updates
We may communicate with users to provide requested services and in
regards to issues relating to their account via email. We may also
send the user new course updates. Members are able to unsubscribe
from these announcements.
Updating Personal Information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes, or if a user
no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update
or remove that user's personal data provided to us. This can be
done by emailing the Web Administrator.
