Nagy Golf Tournament

The Joseph Nagy Golf Tournament is a benefit for the Hepatitis B Foundation that was initiated and sponsored by the Nagy family. It was organized in memory of a loving husband, father and grandfather ("Gramps"). In April 2000, Joseph Nagy passed away after succumbing to complications from a hepatitis B infection that he acquired through a blood transfusion in 1985.

Since "Gramps" was a huge golf fan and enjoyed playing regularly, his grandson-in-law Kevin Drake and other family members organized a tournament to honor his life. As Kevin said, "He was a wonderful man. This tournament is just one way for us to try to do something good and prevent this from happening to someone else."

The Hepatitis B Foundation wants to publicly thank this extraordinary family for their generosity of time, effort and funds. In a time of great personal grief, they responded by organizing a positive, life-honoring event to benefit our mission. We are deeply moved by their support. Thank you.

The first Joseph Nagy Golf Tournament was held July 17, 2000, at the Bunker Hill Golf Course in Princeton, NJ. A total of $1,600 was raised from this event - $800 from the tournament and a $800 matching gift from MetLife.
